Day 8: Portland--Rose Garden, Council Crest

When in the Rose City...

Up a hill not too far from the Rose Garden is Council Crest. There, Mounts St Helen's, Rainier, Adams, and Hood are visible.

Day 8: Portland--Jeld-Wen Field

Swung by Jeld-Wen Field, home of the Portland Timbers (MLS). Jake spat off countless facts about its entire history as if he were a diehard fan. We will spare you the boredom. One interesting tidbit: Elvis performed a concert there in 1957 (then known as Civic Stadium--Jake insisted).

Day 7: Portland

Rooftop dining at our hotel, The Nines (same hotel MLS teams stay in). The only rooftop restaurant in downtown Portland.

"Okay that's enough, Michelle."

Day 6: Vancouver--Grouse Mountain

We decided to soak in the spectacular sights on top of Grouse Mountain. From the top you can look over the city of Vancouver.

It ended up being a tad bit more difficult to see than we had anticipated.

There is Dad in the distance.

The blind leading the blind.

Wait what month is it, July?!?

We were able to see the bears only because they were up close and personal.

Day 5: Vancouver--Stanley Park

Stanley Park is Vancouver's Central Park--it is a peninsula that is surrounded by English Bay and Vancouver Harbour.

Dad contemplated jumping to escape us on this trip, especially Aunt Michelle (reference picture above).

Does this look familiar? It is Inukshuk (ancient symbol of the Inuit culture) and one of the symbols of the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Aunt Elaine and Bre participated in some rock stacking.

Day 5: Vancouver--Where's Dad?

Walking along the waterfront, we realize all of a sudden Dad is no where in sight.

What seemed to be hours later we crossed paths again at the hotel. Since our phones were off we had no communication prior to the meeting. Then he tells us "Men in yellow shirts with flags said to me 'Run with us'. I responded, 'But I'm not from this country'. They said 'we are all one brother'. So I ran...after two blocks I got tired...so I stopped."

Day 5: Vancouver--Waterfront and Olympic Torch

Yes there was a "Do Not Climb" sign.

Great view of the Sea Planes taking off and landing.

2010 Winter Games Olympic Torch

Day 5: Vancouver--Hubbub

Teddy the doorman recommended a sandwich joint right down the street. When we walked in we started chatting with the owner unkowingly. There are about 4 sandwiches on the menu plus can and draft beer. The 6 of us split 3 sandwiches and everyone enjoyed their choice the best.

Jake talked sports with the owner.

This is Kaitlyn Mann, Assistant Producer of Clue the series. She overheard us discussing what to do next and lent a helping hand and gave some very good suggestions.

Day 5: Vancouver--Hotel

(video to come)

Day 5: Vancouver

First time using our passports while entering Canada on our way to Vancouver, British Columbia.

Day 4: Seattle--Ponti's Seafood Grill (House Boat pit stop)

On our way back from the troll we had a delicious dinner on the deck right off of Lake Union.

But before we got there we had to stop to check out a House Boat for sale.

Day 4: Seattle--Fremont Troll

Under a bridge there is a troll constructed out of cement. The troll was created in 1990 as a promotion of a good neighborhood atmosphere. It has been seen in movies such as 10 Things I Hate About You.
